Job Summary

The Alternative Program Supervisor provides supervision, behavioral support, and academic assistance to students participating in the school's alternative education program. This position works closely with administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff to create a structured, safe, and supportive environment that promotes student growth, accountability, and academic success. The supervisor serves as a positive role model and helps students develop appropriate behavioral, social-emotional, and problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise students assigned to the alternative education program throughout the school day.
  • Build positive relationships with students while establishing clear expectations and maintaining a structured learning environment.
  • Support students with behavioral, emotional, and social challenges through proactive interventions and redirection strategies.
  • Assist students in completing academic assignments and staying engaged in instructional activities.
  • Monitor student behavior and implement behavior support plans as directed by administration and student support teams.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and conflict-resolution strategies to address behavioral concerns and promote positive decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding attendance, behavior, and student progress as required.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, social workers, and families to support student success.
  • Facilitate restorative conversations and encourage accountability for student actions.
  • Monitor student safety and well-being at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and personal information.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and behavior management training opportunities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred.

  • Knowledge of behavior management, de-escalation techniques, and conflict-resolution strategies preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive, and Gmail), and the ability to learn and effectively utilize school corporation software and student information systems.
  • Ability to establish positive and professional relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
