What is a program management consultant?

Program Management Consultants are professionals who help organizations plan, execute, and oversee complex projects or programs to achieve specific business goals. They provide expertise in project management methodologies, risk assessment, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication. These consultants work with clients to identify challenges, develop strategies, and ensure that programs are delivered on time and within budget. Their role often involves coordinating multiple projects, aligning them with organizational objectives, and driving successful outcomes.

How does a program management consultant typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success?

Program Management Consultants often act as a bridge between diverse teams such as engineering, finance, and marketing. They facilitate communication by organizing regular meetings, aligning team goals with program objectives, and resolving conflicts or roadblocks quickly. Consultants also develop and manage project plans, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of progress and changes. This collaborative approach is key to delivering successful programs on time and within scope.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a program management consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Program Management Consultant, you need expertise in program management methodologies, strategic planning, and risk assessment, often supported by a bachelor's degree and certifications like PMP or PgMP. Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or Smartsheet is typically required. Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills help distinguish top performers in this role. These abilities ensure effective program delivery, alignment with business objectives, and the ability to navigate complex organizational challenges.

Join us in navigating that evolution, where every project is an opportunity to innovate and broaden our impact. If you're looking for a place where you can lead with purpose and own your outcomes, this is it.
Overview:
We are seeking a key team member to serve as a Senior Consultant responsible for driving client success, overseeing high-impact project delivery, and managing revenue growth. This role blends account ownership, delivery excellence, and people leadership to ensure exceptional outcomes for clients and strong financial performance for the firm.

  • Learn and uphold AMEND's best practices and quality standards for each domain (industry and project type)
  • Deliver projects that meet or exceed margin targets while maintaining high quality
  • Monitor project health and proactively address risks or scope changes
  • Ensure alignment between client expectations, team execution, and financial performance
  • Travel as needed to meet client needs

Client Experience and Account Retention
  • Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to clients through strong relationships and reliability
  • Lead account planning and align client needs with AMEND's capabilities, identifying and closing cross-practice expansions into new project work
  • Quantify speed and measurable impact (ROI) as the basis for retention
  • Achieve client satisfaction and referrals (9-10 NPS) on all engagements
  • Champion unique or innovative delivery methods internally
  • Own revenue targets, forecast accurately, and ensure timely billing

Team Leadership and People Development
  • Foster a high-performance culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Provide consistent, high-quality feedback to our team and support team development as needed
  • Contribute to AMEND's leadership pipeline and cultural development

Qualifications:
  • Experience leading or delivering initiatives in the following areas-process improvement, quality improvement, and technology implementation (digital applications, ERP program management, applied AI and analytical solutions)
  • Demonstrated excellence in:
  • Client relationship management
  • Executive-level presentation and communication
  • Project and time management
  • Change management
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving
  • Agility and adaptability in dynamic environments
  • Proven track record of revenue ownership and client success
  • Advanced ability to lead and develop others, with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and building lasting client partnerships
  • Expertise in strategic prioritization to ensure focus on highest-impact efforts and outcomes

What Success Looks Like:
  • You are a trusted advisor to your clients and a catalyst for their growth
  • You are an enterprise program manager for AMEND's large accounts
  • You consistently exceed revenue and margin goals, deepening long-term partnerships
  • You elevate others-developing talent, shaping culture, and contributing to AMEND's leadership pipeline

What's in it for you?
  • Competitive pay and bonus
  • Travel incentive bonus structure
  • Flexible time off
  • Investment in your growth and development
  • Full health, vision, dental, and life benefits
