The City of Pleasanton is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Part-Time Theater Technician to support productions and events at our performing arts venues through high-quality technical theater work in sound and lighting. Working in a dynamic performing arts environment, you will help bring a wide range of events to life-from community productions and youth theater performances to concerts, cultural events, and city celebrations.

This position plays an important role in supporting the technical needs of productions, renters, and event directors while contributing to a welcoming and professional experience for all who use our facilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced setting, providing excellent customer service, and applying technical theater knowledge to support successful live events. The position offers a unique opportunity to build community through the arts while gaining experience across diverse productions and events.

We're Looking for Someone Who Is A technically skilled theater professional with experience in sound and lighting support for productions and events. Knowledgeable in technical theater practices and able to apply those skills in a professional performing arts theater environment. Professional in appearance and demeanor, with strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with renters, event directors, staff, and the public.

Comfortable using basic computer programs and learning venue-specific systems and production processes. Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to navigate changing schedules, fast-paced event needs, and varying levels of technical knowledge among facility users. In This Role, You Will Provide technical support for productions and events, with a primary focus on sound and lighting.

Assist with the preparation and execution of theater productions, community events, concerts, and cultural programming held at City facilities. Support renters and event directors by helping them navigate production needs and by maintaining a high level of professionalism and service throughout events. Work in a professional performing arts theater environment to help ensure events run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Utilize technical theater knowledge, basic computer skills, and sound judgment to respond to live production demands in a timely and effective manner. Contribute to a positive patron and client experience by collaborating with staff and providing courteous, solution-oriented support.
