The salary range for this position is CAD $26.42/Hr. - CAD $28.25/Hr.

Come work as an Adult & Older Adult Program Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Home Health team at Three Bridges Community Health Centre in Vancouver, BC. Apply now to join our team!

Reporting to the Manager, the Program Assistant provides clerical and program support for the program services and staff.

ABOUT HOME HEALTH PROGRAMS:

Home Health programs provide a range of health care and support services to people living in the community who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs. 

THE CLIENT POPULATION:


Home Health clients typically have on-going health issues and/or complex personal and/or social issues, requiring care planning and coordination of appropriate resources. Clients include frail elderly, younger clients with disabilities, and adults with chronic illnesses requiring supports to maintain/promote independence. Three Bridges serves the Downtown, West End, Coal Harbour, Yaletown and Fairview Slopes areas.


Education, Training & Experience:

  • Grade 12, supplemented by standard commercial and related computer courses, plus two years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven/accurate data entry/keyboarding/word processing skills, including layout and organization of documents and demonstrated ability to create and work with spreadsheets, utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Working knowledge and/or willingness to learn the program specific computer system.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and some independent judgement in carrying out duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to multi-task, to work independently with minimal direction, to problem solve, to take initiative, to anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take appropriate actions, to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish/maintain satisfactory work relationships with public, volunteers and other employees, to deal tactfully/effectively with co-workers, public, elderly/confused/demanding clients and staff from other agencies, to maintain confidentiality and to communicate effectively both verbally (via phone and in person) and in writing.
  • Must be able to work within a team environment and to adapt to constant changes.
  • Must demonstrate good attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to be flexible.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
