Job description

General Description
This is a part-time position that reports to the Head Women's Basketball Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist with operations relating to the Women's Basketball team. Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting efforts, participating in practices, training student athletes, and other tasks assigned by the Head Coach. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Comply with applicable rules and regulations of the NJCAA and Region II as they relate to the Women's Basketball program
  • Assist the Head Women's Basketball Coach with student-athlete recruitment activities for the basketball team including, but not limited to, tracking the admissions and eligibility process involving recruited student-athletes
  • Encourage academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes
  • Assist the Head Coach in monitoring and supporting the student athletes' academic progress through monitoring study hall hours, obtaining feedback from faculty members, and promoting graduation
  • Maintain equipment and facilities related to the Women's Basketball program
  • Assist with the management and administration of an effective and efficient Women's Basketball program
  • Responsible for all aspects of practice and game preparation as directed by Head Coach, including, but not limited to, offensive and defensive drills, individual player improvement, and game organization
  • Assist in the recruitment of players by identifying and assessing talent, communicating with prospective recruits
  • Responsible for building good relationships with players, faculty, staff, boosters, and the community, monitoring possible disciplinary situations, serving as a liaison between players and Head Coach
  • Assist with and coordinate travel for the entire program, including logistics for recruiting travel and team travel
  • Follow all college procurement policies and procedures
  • Assist with the management and administration of an effective and efficient basketball program including planning, organizing, and conducting practices and game strategies
  • Drive shuttle bus from residence hall to main campus as scheduled
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma
  • Verifiable experience coaching basketball
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the game of basketball
  • Familiarity with college policies regarding athletics and NJCAA rules and regulations
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must obtain CDL license with P endorsement by August 31, 2026

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
