Job description

D.W. Distribution, an SBP brand is currently looking for a Production Scheduler to join our team in Lancaster, TX to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion date.
Production Scheduling
  • Monitor relevant data for production scheduling, including customer orders, machinery availability, and inventory levels.
  • Confirm production order completion and closing.
  • Conduct daily inventory reviews of materials required for production scheduling.
  • Determine machinery and process utilization to maximize efficiency and optimize the use of time and resources.
  • Track production volumes and proactively identify issues that may impact schedules or product delivery.
  • Manage system data entry and reporting, including order entry, delivery data, labeling, purchase order creation, and order closure.
  • Create production orders.
  • Order materials as needed, verify inbound raw material shipments, and escalate delivery issues to Purchasing when necessary.
  • Print and sort daily production tickets for customer orders.
  • Review production tickets to ensure departmental accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other company locations to redistribute excess demand when needed.

Department Management
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department team members.
  • Establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing model that effectively supports department objectives and financial reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the department, including employee development through coaching, feedback, delegation, and performance management.
  • Assist with the administration of annual performance reviews.

General and Administrative
  • Support the company's vision, mission, and values.
  • Communicate effectively with management and cross-functional teams throughout the organization.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety requirements, company policies, work rules, and regulations.
  • Compile and maintain all required records, documentation, and reports.
  • Follow systems, processes, and procedures outlined in company manuals and guidelines.
  • Support operations as needed and contribute as an active team member.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution preferred.

Experience and Knowledge
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of production scheduling and/or purchasing experience.
  • Knowledge of the building supply and millwork industry strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and standard business software applications.
