Feed Mill Operations Manager
Location: Fremont, Nebraska
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Feed Mill Operations Manager to oversee daily operations at our feed manufacturing facility in Fremont, NE. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining product quality and safety standards, and leading a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in feed mill operations or a related field, along with proven leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily feed mill operations, including production, maintenance, inventory, and logistics
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, FSMA, HACCP, etc.)
  • Provide leadership, training, and performance management to plant staff
  • Maintain high standards for product quality, consistency, and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor and optimize production efficiency, throughput, and cost control
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance programs and minimize equipment downtime
  • Manage ingredient sourcing, inventory control, and feed formulation processes (as applicable)
  • Collaborate with nutritionists, quality assurance teams, and senior leadership
  • Track operational metrics and prepare reports on performance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Feed Mill Management, Animal Science, Agriculture, Industrial Management, or a related field
  • Alternative: Equivalent hands-on experience in feed mill or grain processing operations
  • 5+ years of experience in feed mill operations, manufacturing, or related industry
  • 2–3 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of feed manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety standards
  • Experience with regulatory compliance (FDA, OSHA, FSMA)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills

  • Experience with computerized batching systems and mill automation
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
  • Knowledge of livestock nutrition and feed formulation processes
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
Work Environment

  • Primarily based in a feed mill production environment
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial setting
