Job description

About Us
We are a fast-growing technology company in the renewable energy sector, helping the world's largest clean energy players optimize performance and extend the life of their assets. Our solutions combine inspections, data analytics, and SaaS products to give customers actionable insights that drive safety, reliability, and profitability. We are expanding our footprint in solar energy and are looking for a passionate, customer-focused product leader to help us grow.
The Role
We are seeking a Product Manager, Solar to join our Product Management team. This role is focused on developing new and managing existing software products within SkySpecs' solar product portfolio. You will serve as both a product leader and a customer-facing success advocate and expert - deeply embedded with our solar customers to understand their needs, train them on our software, and share best practices for operating and managing solar farms.
You will work closely with the Product, Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams, while bringing an outside-in market perspective into SkySpecs. As such, this is a highly cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of product strategy and customer partnership.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for renewable energy, strong strategic instincts, and the ability to turn customer insights into meaningful product decisions. This role offers the opportunity to shape SkySpecs' solar product direction while contributing to a more sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
  • Drive solar product development in accordance with company and product strategy
  • Take a leading role in developing a product roadmap based on business objectives, customer needs, and market opportunities
  • Use knowledge of market dynamics to continuously assess and refine the product strategy
  • Define cross-functional product objectives and key results and drive progress

Customer Engagement & Subject Matter Expertise
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for solar customers - training them on SkySpecs software and sharing best practices for operating and managing solar farms
  • Foster strong relationships with key solar customers to gather valuable feedback and deeply understand their needs
  • Act as the primary point of contact for communicating product changes, new features, and releases to solar customers
  • Assist customers with product configuration and customization to ensure they are getting maximum value from SkySpecs solutions
  • Validate product concepts through ongoing customer engagement and feedback

Roadmap Influence & Feature Prioritization
  • Collect and triage customer feedback, feeding insights directly into the roadmap and feature prioritization process
  • Conduct ongoing data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for product improvement
  • Translate customer and market research findings into actionable insights for the product development team

Go-to-Market & Product Launches
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams to create and execute effective go-to-market plans for solar products
  • Drive successful product and feature launches, developing customer-facing release materials and sales-enabling documentation
  • Shepherd projects through the full software development lifecycle - including user research, data analysis, designing prototypes, writing requirements, testing functionality, training users, and creating release materials

Performance & Innovation
  • Define and track product performance metrics and feedback loops
  • Utilize data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement and identify new development opportunities
  • Lead innovation initiatives from ideation to commercialization, identifying opportunities to differentiate SkySpecs' solar product

Stakeholder Management
  • Communicate and align product roadmap, priorities, and vision with senior leadership, executives, and key stakeholders
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to achieve product and company goals

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience directly in the Solar industry; experience with software development or customer management strongly preferred
  • Customer Focus: Deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to advocate for the customer throughout the product development process; prior experience in a customer-facing product or solutions role is a strong plus
  • Solar Knowledge: Familiarity with solar farm operations, asset management, and industry best practices
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to make data-driven decisions, utilizing tools like Databricks and Sisense
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, concise communication for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, experience with agile methodologies a bonus
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with software development processes and technologies a bonus
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams
