Job description

Position Location:
  • This position will be staffed out of Soltageโ€™s headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey.
  • This is a hybrid role, which requires on-site attendance at our Jersey City, New Jersey headquarters 3 days per week.
  • Occasional ( <25%) domestic travel to sites will be required.

Position:
Join an established and fast-growing distributed generation company as a key member of the Projects and Engineering team.
The Construction Project Manager will undertake detailed site assessments, prepare, negotiate and manage project contracts, facilitate full compliance with all permits and utility requirements, and ensure that the projects are constructed, commissioned and tested in full accordance with Soltage standards and specifications.
The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for project construction, interconnection, commissioning and testing through to system operation and will additionally provide technical and commercial support during the project development, acquisition and financing process. The successful candidate will have prior experience with construction processes and methods & project management processes and methods directly related to renewable energy generation facilities such as Solar Photovoltaic and BESS technology, as well as knowledge of permitting and fire prevention requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Development team to perform site-assessments, evaluate site viability and constructability. Evaluate system capacity and production expectations and assess electrical interconnection options and strategies. Evaluate project opportunities, risks and mitigants.
  • Prepare detailed requests for proposal (RFPs) and manage the resultant contractor bid-processes.
  • Prepare, negotiate and manage key design, procurement and construction contracts. Manage projects from initiation through to operation, completion. Hand-over the completed and fully-documented projects to the Asset Management and Operations teams.
  • Manage and ensure quality-assurances practices are upheld, either directly or through contracted Ownerโ€™s Representatives.
  • Review and evaluate electrical, mechanical, civil and structural designs, reports, calculations and surveys.
  • Review and evaluate environmental and land-use permits, surveys and reports.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules. Provide concise summary reports and status updates to the Soltage management team.
  • Oversee and perform project inspections and system tests. Ensure compliance with engineering specifications and performance objectives.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • BA/BS college or university degree in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical or mechanical.
  • NABCEP or similar solar PV certification is preferred.
  • Minimum seven yearsโ€™ relevant project execution experience, with at least five years of commercial or utility-scale solar PV experience.
  • Budget responsibility of at least $5MM.
  • General knowledge and understanding of three-phase electrical systems and the National Electrical Code.
  • General knowledge, understanding and experience of medium-voltage electrical systems and equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience of environmental and land-use permits, restrictions and regulations.
  • Ability to negotiate engineering, procurement, and construction bids and contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project. AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops as needed.
  • Own an unexpired driving license with a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
