A procurement technician purchases materials, products, and services that a business needs. As a procurement technician, you monitor warehouse inventory and order supplies as necessary under the supervision of the procurement or purchasing manager. Job duties may include processing order paperwork, tracking order delivery, and taking inventory of supplies when they arrive. You may also assist with researching vendors and negotiating contracts to get the best price for your company. Qualifications to become a procurement technician include a high school diploma and some industry experience. Many companies provide on the job training. Certification is not required, but becoming certified may make you a more valuable candidate in the job market.
