Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Programs, Inc. (WPI) is seeking an Procurement Specialist to join our team in Durham, NC.

Procurement Specialist performs duties concerning the acquisition of materials and services.  These duties include but are not limited to; purchase requisition completion, purchase order issuance, material and service ordering, reporting of cost associated with materials and services ordered and will also serve as a liaison between the company and suppliers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Acquires a wide range of standard commercial supplies using primarily competitive acquisition procedures.
  • Reviews purchase requests for standard commercial supplies in terms of compliance with administrative requirements and adequacy of information, including item description, minimum allowable purchase quantity, and estimated cost.
  • Determines any additional information necessary to support purchase request and coordinates with requestor to obtain additional information.
  • Checks required sources of supply and determines if needed supplies are available from the required sources or whether to solicit vendors on the open market.
  • Selects purchasing methods based on such factors as price, available sources, urgency of requirement, and applicable directives.
  • Inputs information in the procurement automated system on administrative actions accomplished or received in support of purchase requests.
  • Inputs revised unit prices, purchase description changes, revised delivery dates, and cancellation data so that accurate information is available to users.
  • This person works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by lead or management staff
