Job Purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

Responsible for supporting the implementation of Arden Production System (Lean and Continuous Improvement system and culture) through the execution of individual tasks and small projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support implementation for the Arden Plant Digitization Project including Charter, Resources, RASIC, Timing, Budget, and Communication plans. These projects incorporate Project Management, Industrial Engineering, and Lean/Continuous Improvement elements.
  • Interface with cross functional teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, IT and Finance.
  • Leading the improvement, execution, and sustainability plan for a time-study program to support yearly time and cost standards for a Tier 1 automotive supplier's production machining and assembly lines.
  • Performs tasks in support of the implementation of Arden Production System (Lean and Continuous Improvement system and culture) such as: communications, 5S+ activities, standard work development, time studies, KPI (key performance indicator / metrics) analysis and visual presentation, and problem solving.
  • Run small projects in support of Arden Production System: understand objectives (the what), develop and gain alignment on a project plan (the how), execute the project plan, perform PDCA (plan, do, check, adjust), communicate status
  • Understands and adheres to current Quality policies and controls
  • Understands and adheres to plant requirements, processes, and procedures per the HR Handbook
  • Understands and adheres to current plant requirements, processes, and procedures related to Environmental, Health, and Safety.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

What we are looking for

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar technical degree.
  • Technical competence, problem solving, organization, and communication skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software required
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort with independently coordinating and conducting meetings / discussions
  • Experience working in cross / multi-functional teams preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred
  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing functions within the automotive supplier market segment preferred
