Role Summary:
The Analytics and Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for providing operational support, analysis, and recommendations for a variety of corporate initiatives, leveraging a wide variety of technical tools. This role will also assist in the development of process strategies for projects and supporting the process improvement cycle from strategy, analysis, design, and implementation through to monitoring the effective use of new or upgraded processes.
Acting as a critical conduit between technical data environments and business stakeholders, the individual will place a high emphasis on data science practices as it relates to improvements in business decision making and process.  The incumbent supports the full process improvement lifecycle—from analysis and solution design through implementation, adoption, and performance monitoring—ensuring that technical solutions are practical, well-governed, and deliver measurable business value. The Analytics and Process Improvement Specialist will provide customer specific network analysis, order optimization and network recommendations to internal stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Operational Analytics and Data Recommendations – 30%
    • Leads or supports operational projects; provides analysis and data-driven recommendations that improve business decision-making.
    • Use SQL Server, SQL-based querying, ETL processes, Power BI, KNIME and related analytics tools to extract, transform, validate, analyze and present operational data.
    • Build and maintain repeatable data workflows that support recurring reporting, customer analysis, network analysis and operational decision-making.
    • Collaborate with Operations, Yield Management, IT, and other teams to identify business needs, set KPIs, and provide actionable data insights.
    • Support on-demand data requests from user groups, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and clearly explained.
    • Identify gaps in data quality, process consistency or reporting logic and recommend improvements.
  • Truckload Customer Specific Order/Flow Optimization – 30%
    • Optimize recurring Truckload customer freight flows for major customer accounts, including the weekly order drop and monthly order flow optimization processes.
    • Analyze order volume, freight patterns, lane balance, equipment utilization, customer requirements and network impact to identify improvements.
    • Develop recommendations that improve equipment utilization, reduce inefficiency and support an optimized operational network.
    • Work within the TMS and related data environments to support monthly changeover design and ensure planned flows are accurately reflected in operational systems.
    • Support annual pricing reviews and major customer business reviews through customer-specific freight flow analysis, network impact assessment and data-backed recommendations.
  • Lean Process Improvement Implementation – 30%
    • Use design thinking methodologies to identify, analyze and document current business processes.
    • Apply Lean improvement methodologies to all initiatives, always place emphasis on the problem, not the solution.
    • Manage process recommendation documents including presentations, process models, supporting metrics, business requirements and related impact analysis.
    • Responsible for leading ad hoc project teams and the execution of new processes with necessary stakeholders.
  • Project Management – 5%
    • Identifies opportunities for process innovation.
    • Creates clear project management plans and documentation for any process changes and projects.
    • Drives the analysis, design, and modelling of business processes by conducting user interviews / meetings.
    • Provides ongoing support to all internal and external stakeholders for all process changes including training, troubleshooting and ongoing guidance to end users.
    • Reviews data post-implementation to measure process outcomes and impacts.
  • Continuous innovation and skill development – 5%
    • Focuses on continuous skill development and learning in following areas:

Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Computer or a related field required.
  • Strong SQL experience required, including the ability to query, join, transform, validate and troubleshoot data in a SQL Server environment.
  • Experience with design thinking, process improvement practices required.
  • Experience with Power BI required or strongly preferred, including data modelling, dashboard development and KPI reporting.
  • Experience with SQL, Python and R Script required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, in-depth knowledge of Excel required.
  • Experience with UiPath or other RPA software an asset.
  • Experience with process simulations and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with Low Code Development applications such as Alteryx or Knime an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio an asset.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt considered an asset.
