Job description

Overview
The Legal intern works as an apprentice under the direction of the SVP - Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer and is responsible for functions needed in the Compliance and Legal Departments. The Legal intern will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the Company.
Responsibilities
  • Assist Compliance Specialists with investigations
  • Research regulations and statutes and prepare memorandum on same
  • Review and/or draft contracts, policies and procedures
  • Analyze claims and assist with litigation matters
  • Other duties as needed and assigned

Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Entry Level: Requires 0-1 years' work experience, undergraduate degree, and at least one year of law school
Physical requirements:
Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, patients, family members, visitors, vendors and all business associates outside of the health facilities.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
• Interest in health law and serving rural populations
• Strong academic performance
• A positive, professional attitude, including dependability and timeliness
• Excellent legal research, legal writing, and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel
