The Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges.
We work closely with our customers' engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform.
We are hiring a Principal Technical Program Manager to help drive high-impact engineering projects with our customers and their partners, transforming their missions using AI and other cloud-based solutions and services. TPMs identify and define the relevant customer scenarios, orchestrate the engineering approach to address these, and develop the end-to-end user stories with internal and external stakeholders, fulfilling the Product Owner role. You will be part of a cross-functional team of software engineers, data scientists, technical program managers, and designers who work side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their engineers to build innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
  • You will partner with Software Engineering, Data Scientists, Designers, and SMEs to design complex technical solutions across feature areas. You'll also give key stakeholders data-driven recommendations based on identified risks.

  • You'll define success criteria and create relationships for implementing multiple feature areas for highly complex cross-functional projects. You'll coordinate and ensure alignment across the business.

  • You will deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups across divisions, track project schedules, drive development of staging and implementation plans, and lead governance programs.

  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch. You'll also provide expertise needed for departments to collect performance metrics, lead customer support, and define and lead direct customer engagements.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications (RQs/MQs)
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Additional or Preferred Qualifications (PQs)
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Enjoy travel and are comfortable with travel up to 25%
  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800.00 - $274,800.00 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000.00 - $304,200.00 per year.
