Schedule:ย Nights, 7:00 PM โ€“ 7:30 AM | 36 hours/week (guaranteed)

Position overview

Theย ER Charge Nurseย leads night-shift operations in a busy emergency department, combining direct patient care with real-time leadership and coordination responsibilities. This role is ideal for experienced emergency nurses who are confident managing high-acuity patients, supervising staff, and optimizing patient flow in a community hospital setting.โ€‹

Key responsibilities
  • Serve as the designated Charge Nurse for night shift, overseeing daily ED operations, staffing, and assignments.โ€‹

  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity emergency environment, including triage, stabilization, and ongoing management.โ€‹

  • Coordinate nurse and support staff assignments, break coverage, and patient flow from triage through disposition.โ€‹

  • Support, mentor, and guide ED nursing staff to ensure adherence to clinical protocols, policies, and standards of care.โ€‹

  • Collaborate closely with emergency physicians, hospitalists, ancillary departments, and prehospital providers to facilitate timely care.โ€‹

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the CPSI/Evident EMR, including assessments, interventions, and disposition.โ€‹

  • Promote patient safety, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance throughout the shift, escalating issues as needed.โ€‹

Required qualifications
  • Active California RN license.โ€‹

  • Minimum 4 years of recent ER nursing experience in an acute care setting.โ€‹

  • Previous Charge Nurse or ED shift leader experience.โ€‹

  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.โ€‹

  • Proof of negative TB screen within 12 months of start date, per facility policy.โ€‹

  • Ability and willingness to work night shifts only for the duration of the assignment.โ€‹
