Staff Accountant (Hybrid)

About the Role

As a Staff Accountant, you’ll be a key player in keeping our financial operations running smoothly and accurately. From supporting month-end close to analyzing financial trends, you’ll work across teams and systems to ensure our numbers tell a clear and compelling story.

This is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds—collaborate in our vibrant Syracuse office while enjoying flexibility to work remotely.

Compensation

Starting hourly range: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour

Actual compensation will reflect your experience, skills, education, certifications, and overall alignment with the role.

What You’ll Be Doing


General Ledger & Month-End Close

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and recurring entries
  • Assist with month-end close, including opening/closing accounting periods
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts (cash, bank, etc.)
  • Support inventory reporting and accrual reversals

Daily & Operational Accounting

  • Perform daily cash reporting
  • Prepare Daily Sales “Flash” reporting and reconciliations
  • Ensure accuracy of daily, weekly, and monthly sales reporting

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Help prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Support budget-to-actual and variance analysis
  • Flag unusual or out-of-policy expense activity

Systems, Controls & Audit Support

  • Maintain data accuracy in Planful
  • Manage fixed asset records in CCH
  • Support internal and external audits with schedules and documentation

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Help refine and document accounting procedures
  • Partner with internal teams to provide insights and support
  • Contribute to special projects and ongoing accounting initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2–5 years of public or private accounting experience
  • CPA exam eligibility (progress toward CPA is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, GL accounting, and reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas; macros a plus)
  • Experience with Oracle, Planful, and/or Power BI (preferred)
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and deadline management
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communicator (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word)
  • A positive, team-oriented mindset aligned with company values
