Role Overview

The Testing Manager will be responsible for leading all electrical testing, energisation, and system validation activities across a large-scale data centre project.

The successful candidate will manage a team of Testing Supervisors and Test Engineers while working closely with the Commissioning Manager, Authorised Persons (APs), contractors, vendors, and client representatives to ensure testing activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.

This is a highly visible, client-facing leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, planning capability, and stakeholder management skills.

Direct Reports: Testing Supervisors, Test Engineers

Key Responsibilities Testing & Energisation Management
  • Lead all electrical dead testing, live testing, and energisation activities.
  • Coordinate testing activities in conjunction with the Authorised Person (AP) team.
  • Manage testing schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies.
  • Ensure all testing activities are completed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Support system energisation, integrated testing, and project handover activities.
Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor Testing Supervisors and Test Engineers.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project milestones.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and technical excellence.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews and performance discussions.
Technical Oversight
  • Review and approve testing procedures, method statements, test packs, and commissioning documentation.
  • Verify testing results and ensure defects are identified, tracked, and resolved.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during testing and energisation.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for testing activities with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, commissioning teams, and project management personnel.
  • Attend project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with client representatives and delivery teams.
Health, Safety & Quality
  • Promote and enforce all site health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules and safe systems of work.
  • Participate in risk assessments and permit-to-work processes where required.
  • Drive quality assurance and ensure all testing records are accurately maintained.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience managing electrical testing activities on large-scale data centre, mission-critical, power generation, or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of MV and LV electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, and critical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable experience managing energisation programmes and electrical testing teams.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational abilities.
  • Recognised Electrical Testing qualification.
  • Right to work within the European Union.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous hyperscale data centre experience.
  • IPAF
  • HV/LV Authorised Pers City & Guilds 2391, 2394/2395, or Electrical Testing Verification of Electrical Installations (Ireland) essential.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is desirable.
  • Knowledge of commissioning and integrated systems testing processes.
  • Experience working within fast-paced, live project environments.
