Job description

The Shift Lead is responsible for all operational functions occurring during their scheduled shift. Lead will work with Supervisor’s to review daily needs, operational goals and metrics. Responsibilities listed below are not all inclusive, the Warehouse Lead is expected to perform any task deemed needed by the management team.

About the Role:

  • Oversee forward pick shift operations, ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Plan, distribute, and monitor workloads to ensure on-time completion; track all on-site and incoming loads using provided tools.
  • Review daily shipments for data errors and systematic completion; coordinate with IT to resolve issues.
  • Provide daily coaching, training, and performance review of team member; create and implement action plans for those under production standards.
  • Report shift performance, overall numbers, and team productivity to Warehouse Leadership.
  • Participate in operational tasks as needed, including picking, loading, receiving, and put-away.
  • Monitor warehouse cleanliness, manage manpower for daily housekeeping, and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist with improvement plan implementations and cover for supervisors when needed.
  • Record shift disturbances and changes during handoff and report to the supervisor.
  • Review inventory location status, process and hold requests, facilitate inventory transfers, and ensure timely fulfillment of production bag stock orders.
  • Monitor and submit operational consumable needs.
  • Enforce all department safety policies; coach and train team members on safe work practices; immediately report safety violations or concerns to Warehouse Manager.
  • Track and report KPIs including tonnage and lines picked per hour, team member productivity, service performance (QARFs), safety and incident prevention, and HACCP compliance.
  • Submit suggestions for process improvements.
