Job description

Mazak Corporation is looking for a 2nd Shift FMF Supervisor to join the Manufacturing team. The FMF Supervisor is responsible for full performance of the CNC machining area, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team development. This role leads daily operations across mills, lathes, and multi axis equipment, driving throughput and schedule adherence while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. The FMF Supervisor is accountable for results and remains actively engaged on the floor to remove barriers, resolve issues in real time, and sustain high performance.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• CNC Operations and Workflow Leadership: Direct workflow across the machining area to optimize throughput, machine utilization, and on time delivery. Align staffing and machine capacity with production priorities and adjust resources as needed to meet changing demands.
• Team Leadership and Accountability: Lead, coach, and develop machinists and operators. Set clear expectations for performance and behavior. Conduct performance reviews, address performance gaps, and apply corrective action when necessary. Support skills development and cross training to build bench strength.
• Production Performance Management: Drive measurable results in output, efficiency, and labor performance. Review daily production and labor reports for accuracy, monitor efficiency metrics, and take corrective action when targets are not met.
• Hands On Technical Leadership: Provide direct support in setups, program edits, tooling selection, offsets, feeds and speeds, and troubleshooting. Step in on complex machining operations when required to maintain flow and protect delivery commitments.
• Quality Oversight and Compliance: Ensure parts meet all print specifications and GD and T requirements. Oversee first piece approval and in process inspections. Enforce disciplined quality practices aligned with ISO standards and prevent repeat defects or downstream escapes.
• Continuous Improvement and Lean Execution: Lead initiatives to reduce cycle times, scrap, rework, and changeover time. Apply lean manufacturing principles and structured improvement methods to strengthen efficiency and sustain gains. Establish and reinforce standard work and training materials.
• Equipment Reliability and Coordination: Partner with maintenance to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment reliability. Escalate recurring mechanical or process issues and support root cause resolution.
• Safety and 6S Leadership: Enforce all safety procedures and promote safe machine operation. Maintain a disciplined and organized work environment consistent with 6S principles. Conduct regular audits and address unsafe conditions immediately.
• Cross Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with programming, quality, materials, and other departments to ensure smooth handoffs, correct documentation, and alignment on priorities.
• Reporting and Systems: Prepare and review production, labor, and performance reports using ERP and reporting systems. Use data to drive accountability and continuous improvement across safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Education/Certification:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Significant experience in CNC machining operations required.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Skills:
• Strong technical knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, setups, blueprint reading, and GD and T.
• Working knowledge of program editing, feeds and speeds optimization, and multi axis machining.
• Ability to lead through presence, accountability, and technical credibility.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to use production data to drive decisions.
• Effective communication skills across operators, programmers, maintenance, quality, and management.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
