Job description

Looking for a long-term project where you can make an impact, not just update drawings?

We're seeking an Electrical Designer / E&I Designer to support capital projects and maintenance initiatives at one of the Midwest's largest refineries. This is more than a drafting role. You'll collaborate with engineers, perform field walkdowns, verify existing conditions, and develop design packages that move from concept to construction.

If you have experience designing electrical or instrumentation systems in refineries, chemical plants, power generation, or other heavy industrial facilities and enjoy seeing your work come to life in the field - this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, multi-year project.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and revise electrical and instrumentation drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Create one-line diagrams, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, conduit and cable schedules, and instrument location drawings.
  • Update P&IDs and support capital, maintenance, and reliability projects.
  • Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and gather design information.
  • Partner with engineers, operations, and construction teams to deliver accurate design packages.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and support document control activities.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as an Electrical Designer, E&I Designer, Instrumentation Designer, or Electrical CAD Designer in a refinery, chemical plant, power plant, or other heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical/instrumentation design documentation.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution, instrumentation, conduit routing, cable schedules, and control systems.
  • Ability to perform field verification and work closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Long-term assignment through December 2028.
  • $55/hour plus $100/day per diem for qualified travelers.
  • Mileage reimbursement for mobilization and demobilization.
  • Monday-Friday schedule (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
  • Opportunity to support large-scale refinery projects from design through construction.
  • Stable project environment with the chance to build long-term relationships and expand your industrial design experience.
