Key responsibilities

  • Assist with refinery operations by operating equipment such as casting and super pumps, kettle mixers, bridge crane, fork trucks, and mobile carts.

  • Support refinery operators in all areas of casting and refining, including performing kettle treatments, skimming dross, and monitoring and adjusting kettle temperatures.

    I.     POSITION DESCRIPTION:

            The purpose of this position is to assist with Refinery operations.

   II.    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates casting and super pumps, kettle mixers and bridge crane.
  • Operates fork trucks and mobile cart. May also be trained to operate Hi-Lo and man lift if needed.
  • Assists refinery operators in all areas of casting and refining. 
  • All equipment leaving a dirty area must be pressure washed to prevent tracking.
  • Clean all spills as they occur.
  • Performs all kettle treatments with minimal assistance.
  • Skims dross from molten metal in kettles.
  • Monitors and adjusts temperatures on refining kettles
  • Performs clean up around kettles and throughout the area.
  • Keeps work area neat, clean, and free of debris and obstacles.  
  • No waste (trash) left on ground or improper containers (banding, packaging, etc.)

 III.     PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a valid US Driver’s License
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in industrial environment
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to perform physical labor
  • Authorized to work in the United States

IV.      POST-HIRE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Environmental training applicable to the job
  • Safety training for applicable equipment
  • Job instructional training
  • ISO 9001 familiarization
  • ISO 14001 awareness, objectives and targets
  • LEAN JTE awareness, objectives, targets and participation

V.       PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat.  The employee is frequently exposed to vibration.  The employee occasionally works in high precarious places, in outside weather conditions, and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
