Description of Primary Duties
Missouri State University-West Plains seeks adjunct faculty to teach HIT/Medical Coding courses.
Responsibilities include teaching assigned course(s); grading students' work in a timely manner; being available to assist students with course-related matters; submitting attendance and midterm/final grades by the required deadlines; completing course assessments on time; and participating in required training.
Classes may be scheduled during the day or evening hours and may be seated, online, blended, or interactive video.
Adjunct faculty members are appointed on a semester basis only. The hours which adjunct faculty are allowed to teach each semester are determined by current regulations. Consult with the office of academic affairs to determine the number of hours allowed.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Adjunct Faculty should possess a master's degree or the equivalent professional experience in a field determined acceptable by the Dean. Bachelor's degree may be acceptable in certain subject areas as determined by the Dean.
Additional Qualifications
The applicant will need to provide a copy of a current medical coding credential from AHIMA or AAPC when applying. Must hold one of the following medical coding credentials: CCS, CCS-P, or CPC. Credential must be active.
