Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Analyst/Sr. Payroll Analyst to manage complex payroll operations and ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing across multiple entities. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex payroll and tax challenges, and is passionate about delivering exceptional service to employees and internal stakeholders.
Location: Richmond, VA
Compensation: $27.10-$36.67 per hour*
This role plays a critical role in payroll administration, payroll tax compliance, process improvement, and system optimization while supporting a diverse and complex workforce.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the bi-weekly U.S. payroll process, ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Analyze payroll data, validate payroll reports, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in partnership with Human Resources, Finance, Logistics, and other stakeholders.
  • Administer the Social Security Totalization Agreement process and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support international payroll requirements.
  • Process and reconcile federal, state, and local payroll tax withholdings, payments, and filings across multiple entities.
  • Research payroll tax regulations and ensure compliance with evolving federal, state, local, and international payroll requirements.
  • Register and maintain payroll tax accounts in new jurisdictions and support organizational expansion into new states and localities.
  • Provide payroll support to employees, including responding to inquiries, managing payroll communications, and assisting with tax elections and payroll-related transactions.
  • Calculate salary adjustments and audit employee payroll information to ensure data integrity.
  • Support payroll system enhancements, reporting development, integrations, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a backup for payroll team functions and contribute to cross-training and knowledge-sharing efforts.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, preferred.
  • At least 3 years of payroll, accounting, finance, HR and/or related experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll administration and payroll tax compliance, preferred
  • Experience processing multi-state payrolls, preferred
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and payroll/ERP systems.
  • Experience working in Workday is ideal
  • Experience managing payroll processes across multiple companies or entities.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits, garnishments, leave programs, retirement plans, and payroll tax regulations.
