Job Description
Addison Group is partnering with a growing organization to identify a Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-permanent opportunity. This position is responsible for managing full-cycle, multi-state payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and/or union payroll and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule, including direct deposits and manual checks.
- Review and verify employee timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports, prevailing wage documentation, and union payroll reporting as required.
- Process payroll tax filings, garnishments, child support orders, and other required employee withholdings.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Process employee expense reimbursements and maintain accurate payroll documentation for audit purposes.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with internal audits and payroll reconciliations.
- Partner with Human Resources and Accounting to support month-end activities and maintain payroll accuracy.
- Perform additional payroll and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of full-cycle, in-house payroll processing experience.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll.
- Required experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and/or union payroll.
- Construction industry payroll experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and payroll best practices.
- Experience processing garnishments, payroll tax filings, and employee deductions.
- Accounting background or related coursework is preferred.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
