Job description

About the Role

Korea Investment Partners US (KIPUS) is a venture capital firm investing in frontier technologies — artificial intelligence, semiconductors, datacenter infrastructure, robotics, physical AI, and the deep tech platforms shaping the next decade of global industry. Backed by KIP and KIH Holdings, one of Asia’s largest financial platforms with over $400 billion in assets under management, KIPUS combines substantial capital, long-term conviction, and a truly global perspective. We invest across all stages, from first check to late-stage growth, and bring portfolio companies an extensive network of corporates, sovereign institutions, and industrial partners across Asia and beyond.

As we scale our U.S. operations, we are seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to build and run the people function that supports our growth. In this on-site role, you will own end-to-end HR operations — from recruitment and onboarding to performance management and employee relations — while designing the policies, programs, and culture that allow a high-performing team to thrive. You will be a trusted point of contact for employees and a strategic partner to leadership on everything from workforce planning to talent development.

This role sits at the bridge between our U.S. office and our headquarters in Korea. Fluency in Korean is essential, as you will coordinate closely with HQ on people matters, align local practices with firm-wide standards, and help translate — both literally and culturally — between two organizations. We’re looking for someone who pairs sharp HR judgment with genuine warmth, discretion, and the cross-cultural fluency to operate confidently across both environments.

Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Own end-to-end HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding
  • Serve as a trusted, approachable point of contact for employees on all HR-related matters
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HRIS and personnel records, and support payroll processing
  • Manage benefits and compensation administration in coordination with external providers and brokers

Policy, Compliance & Culture

  • Design, document, and refine HR policies, procedures, and programs that support compliance and organizational effectiveness
  • Ensure HR practices remain fully compliant with U.S. employment law, with particular attention to California labor regulations
  • Champion a positive, inclusive workplace culture as the team grows

Finance & Office Operations

  • Manage office budgeting, bookkeeping, and day-to-day expense management, ensuring accuracy and appropriate internal controls
  • Coordinate and maintain relationships with outside vendors and service providers, including law firms, accounting firms, benefits brokers, and insurers

Strategic & Cross-Border Partnership

  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, talent development, and broader organizational initiatives
  • Coordinate closely with headquarters in Korea on people matters, ensuring alignment between local and firm-wide standards
  • Communicate effectively across U.S. and Korean teams, bridging cultural and operational differences with clarity and tact

Qualifications
  • Professional fluency in Korean is strongly preferred, including the ability to communicate effectively with headquarters in Korea
  • Demonstrated experience across core HR operations: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law and regulations, particularly California labor law, and experience keeping HR practices compliant
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and confidential record keeping
  • Skilled at developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and programs that support organizational goals and a positive culture
  • Comfortable owning office finance and administration — budgeting, bookkeeping, expense management, and vendor coordination
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to build trust at every level
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, working independently with sound judgment and discretion

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in financial services, venture capital, private equity, or a related professional services environment
  • Familiarity with the cross-cultural dynamics of a U.S. subsidiary within a global parent organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field
  • HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SCP are a plus

Why Join Us
  • Build the people function from the ground up at one of Asia’s largest venture platforms as it scales in the U.S.
  • Work at the intersection of two dynamic markets, with real ownership and direct access to leadership
  • Join a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and high-trust team where your contributions genuinely shape the organization
  • We are a globally minded team that welcomes diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences — we hire for talent, curiosity, and drive, regardless of origin

Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package including a base salary commensurate with experience, medical health insurance, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth.

KIPUS is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive team that reflects a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
