About the Role

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Madera, CA. In this role, you will manage end-to-end payroll processing, maintain accurate employee records, and ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong problem-solving and mathematical skills.


Key Responsibilities


  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all non-exempt and exempt staff.

  • Review timecards, paid time off (PTO), and Paid Sick Leave (PSL) requests for precision and compliance.

  • Prepare, audit, and distribute direct deposits and physical checks.

  • Calculate standard withholdings, garnishments, tax deductions, and wage adjustments.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.

  • Maintain confidential payroll files, tax records, and system databases.

  • Generate payroll reports for management and support auditing processes as needed.

Qualifications


  • 2+ years of dedicated payroll processing experience preferred.

  • Solid understanding of California labor laws, wage/hour regulations, and tax compliance.

  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Exceptional numerical accuracy and strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of handling sensitive data confidentially.
