Job Summary

The Payments Operations Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate and efficient processing across all payment channels, including ACH, wire transfers, faster payment systems (Real-Time Transfers, FedNow, and Zelle), online bill pay, and other electronic payment platforms. This individual is responsible for understanding a variety of payment channels utilized by the bank. This individual will assist in problem solving and serve as a resource person to all other Payment Operation Specialists and employees of other departments.

The specialist must be adept at working in a fast-paced, changing environment, stay motivated and keep up to date on changes as they develop. Additionally, the specialist will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of financial and payment networks.

Job Duties

  • Works closely in a team environment to complete all daily responsibilities related to processing ACH, wire transfers, faster payments, and other electronic transactions accurately and timely.
  • Monitor payment queues and resolve routine exceptions.
  • Promptly investigate and resolve payment failures, returns, and disputes with internal teams, customers and banking partners.
  • Ensure compliance with NACHA, Federal Reserve, and other applicable regulations.
  • Assist with customer inquiries related to payment processing and provide excellent customer service.
  • Adheres to all internal controls, risk management and compliance standards as well as any other applicable banking regulations.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and optimization of payment systems and workflows.
  • Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Skills
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payment processing platforms.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience
    • 1+ years in payment operations or related banking functions preferred.
    • Experience with FinTech and/or high-volume transaction processing, with exposure to fast-paced work environments.
    • Knowledge of payment systems and banking regulations.
