About The Position:

The Payment Operations Specialist is responsible for various payment strategies, data analysis tools and reporting to efficiently and accurately execute payment functions necessary to meet Operational objectives. This includes decision-making, posting transactions and managing exceptions across multiple payment channels such as ACH, check, Wire transfers, Mobile deposits, etc. They are also responsible for reconciling activity daily to ensure accurate accounting of funds. The Payment Operations Specialist is also responsible for reporting, and compliance with all NACHA Operating Rules, ECCHO rules, and other security and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Utilize multiple payment systems and programs to conduct in-house member transactions, resulting in timely and accurate posting of transactions. Specialists identify, investigate and resolve payment issues, review and analyze potential fraudulent activity, while utilizing various cross-functional systems. This role must also provide high-quality work within fast- paced timeframes.
  • Engage in DNA release system upgrades. Testing of new changes in the appropriate core test environment to ensure that all proposed functions are operating as expected. Conducting thorough testing and validation of paymentrelated functionalities including updating procedures and notifying all internal teams of relevant changes.
  • Facilitate various types of money movement requests required in accordance with company procedures as well as responding to transactional inquiries for Greater Nevada Credit Union and its subsidiaries. Suggest areas for process improvement with the Payment Operations Manager. This includes the identification of inefficiencies in current processes and resolution recommendations. Specialists must also stay updated on industry trends, regulations and best practices in the payment channels.
  • Participation in Payment Operations audits, assisting the team with gathering required materials and involvement in audit discussions as needed. This will include ensuring day-to-day transactions meet all regulatory and procedural guidelines as well as ensuring documentation is appropriately retained.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive member financial information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Previous Financial Institution experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 2 (two) years of experience with ACH, Wire Transfers, Check clearing or other payment channel methods required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to consistently participate in continued training and education to understand payment rules, laws and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Effective professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, demonstrate proactive problem-solving capacity and to deal with multiple timeframes and deadlines across several channels and shifting priorities.
  • Strong and proven critical thinking skills to analyze situations, identify issues and look for effective solutions.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of your job, you may regularly be required to sit and use a keyboard, multiple monitors, mouse, and telephone (including repetitive motions with hands, fingers, arms, etc.) for extended periods of time. You may also frequently be required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, bend, and kneel.
  • You may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

The Payment Operations position is located in Reno and Carson City.


Compensation & Benefits

  • $20.19- $28.13 per hour
  • Compensation is dependent on experience
