Payment Operations Specialist

this position focuses on handling transaction workflows, researching payment-related issues, and maintaining accurate records across multiple payment channels. The role also plays an important part in meeting regulatory expectations, minimizing risk, and partnering with internal teams to keep payment operations running smoothly.


Responsibilities:

• Execute daily payment activities across various transaction types, ensuring items are handled accurately and within established deadlines.

• Review and resolve payment-related exceptions by researching discrepancies, recalls, disputes, and other transaction issues.

• Monitor transactions for unusual activity, escalate potential concerns, and support fraud prevention efforts through timely follow-up.

• Complete screening and decision-making tasks related to payment reviews in accordance with internal controls and regulatory standards.

• Reconcile payment records against supporting data, identify imbalances, and take action to correct outstanding differences.

• Work closely with business partners and internal departments to promote efficient processing and clear resolution of payment matters.

• Maintain thorough documentation of investigations, adjustments, and operational activity to support audit and compliance needs.

• 3+ years of experience in banking, payment operations, or a related financial services environment.

• Working knowledge of payment transaction processing, including wire activity and other electronic payment methods.

• Familiarity with industry rules and regulatory frameworks related to payment handling, with exposure to Nacha standards preferred.

• Ability to analyze transaction data, identify issues, and apply sound judgment to resolve operational problems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience using financial or payment-related systems.

• Background in payment reconciliation and day-to-day banking operations is highly valued.
