Payroll Specialist

Location: Daly City Ca

Compensation: [100,000]

Position Overview

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-employee organization. This role requires strong experience with Paylocity and the ability to create, manipulate, and audit manual payroll reports using Excel and other reporting tools. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, accurate, and comfortable working with payroll data beyond standard system-generated reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly and/or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time using Paylocity.
  • Audit payroll data, earnings, deductions, taxes, and timekeeping records.
  • Create and maintain manual payroll reports using Excel, including customized reporting, reconciliations, and payroll analytics.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and tax-related issues.
  • Manage new hire, termination, and employee payroll changes.
  • Reconcile payroll registers, benefit deductions, garnishments, and tax filings.
  • Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting.
  • Support payroll audits and assist with month-end and year-end activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on Paylocity experience required.
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data reconciliation.
  • Experience creating and maintaining manual payroll reports rather than relying solely on system-generated reporting.
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, garnishments, and benefits deductions.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
