To thrive as a Parts Counter, you need strong knowledge of automotive or machinery parts, inventory management, and basic computer literacy, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with parts catalog software, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and inventory tracking tools is typically required. Achieving $10,000 monthly usually requires advanced skills, certifications, or moving into supervisory or sales management positions in related fields.

What is a Parts Counter?

Strong customer service, organizational skills, and product knowledge are essential for this role. Parts Counters often use specialized software to track inventory and may also handle returns and warranty claims.
