General Description
The Direct Support Professional Success Coach is responsible for the tracking, assisting, and monitoring the progress of an assigned cohort of students at a participating community agency. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to providing academic support, developing and conducting workshops, monitoring student academic progress, supporting continuous student enrollment throughout the program, and ensuring students receive information on available academic and student support services offered at SUNY Niagara or at their agency. Documentation of services and student progress is an essential requirement of this position. Evening and/or weekend hours may be required. Must have reliable internet connection.
The rate of pay is based on the level of education the candidate possesses. For a Bachelor's degree or lower the rate of pay will be $22.52 per hour. For a Master's degree or higher the rate of pay will be $24.76 per hour.
Typical Work Activities
1. Provide intake services and advisement to NADSP/OPWDD Grant students by assessing student needs and providing information and resources about academic requirements, financial assistance, career exploration, and special support services including how to apply for NADSP badges through the online Badge Academy.
2. Use a case management approach to guide students in managing their academic experience and engaging them in activities that support their success in completing NADSP competencies (tutoring, personal counseling, workshops on self-management, etc.).
3. Provide academic assistance to assist students with homework completion in the various NADSP competency areas.
4. Monitor and document student progress at the College and at their agency through frequent individual meetings to monitor weekly NADSP competency goals.
5. Serve as a student advocate to enhance collaborative relationships and identify campus and/or agency connections and resources that foster student retention.
6. Work closely with partner agency contacts to set and schedule learning goal opportunities.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Program Administrator.
Essential Functions
  • Must be able to relate to a diverse student population and academic personnel.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must work well independently and as a team member.
  • Must possess good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to travel between multiple locations from the agency and/or the NCCC Sanborn campus.

Required Qualifications
  • Successful completion of at least 30 credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a gpa of 2.0 or better
  • Valid NYS Driver's License

Desirable Qualifications
Experience with online learning (ex. Brightspace) and conferencing software (ex. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
