Job Title: Spanish Interpreter (Onsite, Part-Time)
Location: Hammonton, NJ
Program Overview
The Division of Behavioral Health Services in Hammonton, New Jersey, is seeking a SpanishInterpreter to provide in-person support, interpreting from Spanish<> English, focusing on patient's treatment-ward interpreting programs, medical appointments, assessments, etc.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide interpretations for customer service inquiries in Spanish. Interpretations may be from English to the target language or from the target language back to English.
  • Shall be available within the agreed upon timeframe to receive and respond to inquiries outside of standard scheduling.
  • Be available for on-call scheduling, as well as possible over-the-phone interpretation.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all interpretations and translations; protect the integrity of information with respect to Personal Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (personal health records, etc.) while interpreting, and adhere to all applicable Federal Privacy and Security acts, especially the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Privacy Act.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Part time position working hours in the morning with unpaid lunch break and then working hours in the afternoon.
  • Must be willing to commute to Hammonton, NJ (mileage is not reimbursed).
  • Must have medical translation certification and provide copy of certificate.
  • Native-level mastery/fluency of both languages.
  • An extensive vocabulary ranging from formal language to colloquialisms and slang.
  • Must be willing to undergo background checks, fingerprinting and physical examination.
  • Must be willing to comply with CDC and Facility Medical Guidelines, including and not limited to wearing masks, taking regular temperature checks, flu vaccinations, and weekly COVID-19 testing.
