Key Responsibilities
The Utah National Guard is looking to fill multiple positions for a Spanish Language Support Specialist located at the Utah Translation & Analysis Center (UTAC) at Camp Williams and Orem, UT. These are part-time positions with no benefits and may be converted to career service positions at a later date. Flexible working hours Monday through Friday between 5:30 am to 6:00 pm.
Due to U.S. Government security clearance requirements, applicants must be a U.S. citizen
Job Description
As a Spanish Language Support Specialist, you will be required to listen to various Spanish language sources to provide precise word processing transcriptions in the Spanish language itself. The transcriptions are translated into English while complying with all legal requirements and reflecting cultural and situational context, sounds, noises, and other influences. You will utilize computer equipment and associated software to receive work assignments and to process the work product. The work product must meet stringent requirements for legal, law enforcement, and security-sensitive applications. Employment is subject to background checks determining an individual's qualification to work with sensitive security information.
Qualifications
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for this position:
  • is proficient in the Spanish language.
  • is proficient in the English language.
  • possesses a DoD SECRET security clearance.

PreferencePreference may be given to those who possess the following:
  • T2S2 Transcription/Translation Certification.
  • College degree in Spanish Translation.
  • Spanish language/translation certification from an accredited entity.
  • Proficiency in other languages in addition to Spanish.
  • DoD SECRET security clearance.

Responsibilities:
  • Designs proposed output formats and monitors output for information accuracy.
  • Translates spoken and/or written materials from one language to another.
  • Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
  • Records and/or transcribes minutes of meetings, hearings, dictation, dialogue, etc., and produces document in draft or final format.
  • Reviews and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Enters data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects, or deletes previously entered data.

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance.

Supplemental Information:
  • Part time position working less then 30 hours per week. This position is not a career service position but may be converted at a later date.
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
