Job description

Halliday Technologies is a family-owned and operated manufacturer and designer of innovative airport and highway friction testing equipment. We are seeking a part-time Design Engineer to join our Delaware, Ohio-based team. This contract position pays $42 - $50 an hour based on experience and candidates with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or enrolled in an accredited engineering program) and are proficient in SolidWorks PDM will be prioritized within the interview process. This could become a full-time position where you can continue to grow your career at Halliday Technologies.

This position requires U.S. citizenship due to federal contract or government security clearance requirements. Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Work Details & Advancement Opportunities for the Design Engineer:

  • Contract position – Design requirements = 16 hours per week

  • Possibility of additional hours and/or becoming a Full-time position

  • First shift position - Work hours are 8:30am – 5pm

  • Work completed on-site on Halliday’s Design computer

  • Guidance provided by CEO & Head Engineer

Design Engineer’s Core Responsibilities: (Included, but not limited to)

  • Focuses on the design, analysis, and continuous improvement of our friction testing equipment.

  • Design complex parts in SolidWorks under the guidance of Halliday’s CEO and chief engineer.

  • Maintain model integrity as designs are upgraded and implemented, including assembly, subassembly, and part organization.

  • Develop and maintain BOM for models to ensure that all parts are updated to the latest specifications.

  • Determine how changes to the design impact other aspects of the design, trace dependencies, and whether any other modifications are required to implement the requested change.

  • Create drawing files as necessary for multiple product lines.


Design Engineer’s Qualifications for Success:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or enrollment in an accredited engineering program.

  • Proficient in SolidWorks PDM for design and drafting.

  • Seeking 2 – 3 years of design experience. A project portfolio is a plus.

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process or hands-on experience repairing and maintaining equipment.
