The Equity Alliance is seeking a creative, reliable, and community-centered Digital Organizer based in Memphis to help amplify our advocacy, organizing, and community engagement work online. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply connected to Memphis culture, passionate about storytelling, and excited to help move people from awareness to action through digital engagement.

The Digital Organizer will be responsible for capturing real-time content, creating social media posts, supporting digital organizing efforts, and helping tell the story of our work across Memphis. This person will attend community events, rallies, trainings, meetings, and actions to document and share moments that highlight the power of Black communities organizing for change.

This is a part-time hourly position averaging 1215 hours per week, with most hours occurring during evenings and weekends based on events and organizing activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Capture photo and video content at events, community meetings, trainings, rallies, canvasses, and actions in Memphis
  • Create and post engaging content across social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter/X
  • Support live posting and real-time storytelling during events and actions
  • Draft captions, reels, stories, graphics, and short-form video content aligned with The Equity Alliances voice and messaging
  • Work closely with communications, organizing, and leadership teams to promote campaigns, events, advocacy efforts, and rapid response actions
  • Help grow digital engagement by creating content that informs, inspires, and mobilizes community members
  • Monitor social media trends and identify culturally relevant opportunities for engagement
  • Support digital calls to action including event sign-ups, advocacy alerts, fundraising campaigns, and volunteer recruitment
  • Maintain organized content folders and assist with basic content planning and scheduling
  • Occasionally support community outreach and on-the-ground organizing efforts as needed


Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about Black civic engagement, social justice, and community organizing
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital storytelling
  • Comfortable capturing content in fast-paced environments
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to write engaging and culturally relevant captions
  • Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, or similar content creation tools
  • Self-starter who can work independently while staying connected to the larger team
  • Organized, dependable, and responsive
  • Based in Memphis with reliable transportation to attend events and activities
  • Comfortable working evenings and weekends


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing social media accounts for organizations, campaigns, brands, or community initiatives

Compensation
