What is a part time office job?

Part time office jobs are positions within an office setting where employees work fewer hours than a standard full-time schedule, typically less than 35-40 hours per week. These roles often include administrative tasks such as answering phones, organizing files, scheduling appointments, and supporting office operations. Part time office jobs can be ideal for students, parents, or anyone seeking work-life balance, as they offer flexible hours and the opportunity to gain professional experience without the commitment of full-time employment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time office assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Office Assistant, you generally need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic computer proficiency, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite, email platforms, and sometimes office equipment like copiers or scanners is typically required. Excellent communication, reliability, and adaptability are key soft skills that help build positive relationships and handle varied tasks efficiently. These abilities are essential for supporting smooth office operations, meeting deadlines, and contributing positively to the workplace environment.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time office employees, and how can they effectively manage their workload?

Part-time office employees often face the challenge of balancing multiple tasks within limited hours, which can make prioritization essential. Since they may not be present every day, keeping up with ongoing projects and effective communication with full-time staff is key to staying informed and productive. Utilizing organizational tools, setting clear expectations with supervisors, and regularly checking in with teammates can help part-time office workers manage their responsibilities efficiently and ensure smooth workflow integration.

โ€ข Process Architecture: Design, optimize, and implement scalable SOPs for payroll workflows, moving from manual intervention to automated, "touchless" processing where possible
โ€ข AI Implementation: Strategically identify and deploy Al-driven tools (e.g., for automated data validation, employee inquiry chatbots, or policy analysis) to streamline payroll tasks
โ€ข Service Excellence: Lead the payroll function as a high-touch internal advisory service, resolving complex payroll and tax queries with a focus on speed and clarity
โ€ข System Optimization: Serve as the primary business owner for ADP and integrated HRIS tools, leading system audits and configuration updates to support company growth
โ€ข Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Legal, and the GL team to ensure seamless data flow for payroll accounting and assist with audit requests and regulatory reporting

โ€ข Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to act as a trusted advisor to employees and stakeholders
โ€ข Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation is a significant plus
Preferred Skills:
โ€ข Experience in SaaS or high-growth tech industries
โ€ข Experience with NetSuite ERP integration
โ€ข Public company or IPO-readiness experience
Target cash compensation range: $104,000-130,000USD Annually
We are committed to providing competitive, market-informed compensation. The cash compensation above includes base salary, variable commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets for eligible roles. A hybrid work schedule indicates that you work in the office some days and work from home other days. The best hybrid workplaces allow for flexibility while also encouraging consistency.
Those local or living in surrounding areas to one of our offices (Bellevue, WA or New York, NY) will work a hybrid schedule, coming into their local office 1-3 days a week. While those in a role, not office-based and located further away from our offices, will work a fully remote schedule. If you have questions regarding exact details of our hybrid & flexible workplace policy, please let your recruiter know and they will discuss with you further.
