Description of Work
The Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center (NVDC) employs state-of-the-art testing procedures to provide disease surveillance and diagnostic services to veterinarians, livestock producers, pet owners and researchers. The NVDC is located on UNL's East Campus, home to the beautiful Maxwell Arboretum, the UNL Dairy Store, and plenty of parking!
As a Part Time Lab Technician I, you will:
  • Provide glassware and lab supply support for laboratories engaged in veterinary disease testing.
  • Wash, sterilize, and decontaminate instruments via autoclave and other methods.
  • Safely dispose of waste following appropriate procedures.
  • Prepare testing media and reagents.
  • Train and oversee the work of undergraduate student workers in performance of basic lab support duties, ensuring compliance with lab safety protocols.

This temporary position is part time, working up to 18 hours per week, and is not eligible for benefits. Temporary employees may be appointed for a period of up to two years.
Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an O/S Temp Hourly worker.
