Markon is seeking a part-time Writer (20 hours/week) to support an Intelligence Community customer's Retirement and Honor and Merit Awards (HMA) program. This role supports retirement ceremony preparation, event coordination, and HMA review activities by reviewing and translating senior-level career documentation into professionally written summary products. The position requires strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Review lengthy senior staff officer career packages to understand career progression, accomplishments, and mission impact
  • Develop professionally written, accurate, and compelling 8-12 page career summaries for retirement events involving senior government officials
  • Translate complex career information into concise and meaningful narrative products
  • Assist with the preparation, completion, and submission of HMA recommendations
  • Support the coordination and planning of retirement ceremonies and related events
  • Edit, proofread, and refine written materials to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Manage multiple writing assignments and deadlines in a high-paced environment
  • Collaborate with program staff, leadership, and stakeholders to support program objectives
Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Writing, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of professional writing experience
  • Experience writing in a structured authoring environment
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills
  • Ability to review and summarize large volumes of content into concise narrative products
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a high-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
Salary RangeUSD $70,000.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
