Finance & Insurance Writer

Reports To: General Sales Manager/ General Manager

Summary: This position directs the sale of and sells new and used car buyers financing and insurance programs. F&I Writer also works with financial lenders to get the best interest rates for the dealership. F&I Writer is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following.
  • Oversee dealership customer loan origination and approval process while maintaining strong relationships with prime and subprime lenders
  • Accurately prepare all federal, state, and dealer paperwork and submit to the accounting department in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain monthly forecasted income, penetration levels, and customer satisfaction index (CSI) scores
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and year end reports
  • Present service contracts, GAP, and other beneficial ancillary products Understanding and complying with federal, state and local regulations that affect the new and used-vehicle and finance departments.
  • Creating and maintaining a program with the sales department that will ensure all new sales are referred to the F&I department.
  • Training and providing the sales and finance teams with information on finance and lease programs and the benefits of the dealership's financing and extended service programs.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism
  • Education - High school diploma or college degree or equivalent
  • A proven track record of at least 3-5 years of automotive F&I Producer experience is a must; Director experience preferred.
  • Must maintain the profitability of their department while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Must understand and keep abreast of the federal, state, and local regulations that affect operations.
  • Must have strong communication skills in order to work with customers, employees and finance and insurance vendors.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of insurance are required.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass an MVR and background check.
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions
  • Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone
