Job description

URGENTLY HIRING: GRANT WRITER & GRANTS ADMINISTRATOR | HYBRID | VAN NUYS, CA | FULL-TIME

Kids In The Spotlight (KITS) is an award-winning nonprofit that empowers foster care-impacted and underserved youth through storytelling, filmmaking, mentorship, and workforce development programs. Through innovative, trauma-informed programming, KITS helps children build confidence, develop career skills, and create brighter futures.

We're seeking an experienced Grant Writer & Grants Administrator to help secure and manage funding that directly supports life-changing programs for youth.

What You'll Do
  • Research and identify foundation, corporate, government, and other funding opportunities.
  • Write and submit grant proposals, LOIs, sponsorship requests, and renewal applications.
  • Manage the grant process from application through reporting and compliance.
  • Develop grant budgets and budget narratives in partnership with leadership.
  • Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and grant activity in Monday.com.
  • Prepare interim and final grant reports.
  • Collaborate with program, finance, and executive teams to develop compelling proposals and measurable outcomes.
  • Support donor stewardship, funder communications, and funding strategy initiatives.
What We're Looking For
  • 3-5+ years of nonprofit grant writing and grant administration experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, research, and communication skills.
  • Experience developing grant budgets, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Nonprofit experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven success securing and managing six- or seven-figure grants.
  • Experience with California state, county, or federal funding opportunities.
  • Experience with Monday.com and/or donor CRM systems such as Salsa Labs.
  • Experience in foster care, youth development, workforce development, mental health, arts education, entertainment, or related fields.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
