Summary

The Histology Technician will perform the various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist. This may include logging, batching, and cutting, mounting, and staining procedures.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform Histological technical procedures using manual and automated techniques to achieve quality pathology slides for review by pathologist
  • Providing skilled surgical and medical support to MOHS surgeon with patients’ care and safety.
  • Prepare patients’ charts, forms and instruments and equipment needed for surgery
  • Prepare histological samples, map, and flatten, frozen section samples, staining
  • Comply with OSHA, CLIA and HIPPA regulations
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, keep room and lab stocked with supplies
  • Organize, file and dispose of all specimens within regulation.
  • Participate in external and internal proficiency testing

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Health or Science
  • Certified Histology Technologist ASCP (Preferred)
  • Prior experience in medical office
  • Ability to learn related center tasks and be of assistance to management and physicians
  • Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards
  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA law
  • Team player
