Job Summary: The Histology Tech is responsible for validating specimen identification, processing specimens, embedding tissues, performing routine and special staining procedures, and assisting with various laboratory tasks. The role requires multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and ensuring high-quality results within established turnaround times. The candidate must demonstrate excellent embedding and cutting skills, with a focus on quality over speed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP)
  • HT-ASCP or HTL-ASCP certification
  • Associate's Degree in Science or Histology
  • Minimum of two years of paid experience, preferably in a hospital or reference lab
  • Knowledge of hospital and laboratory operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively and exhibit sound independent judgment
  • Basic knowledge of computer functions
  • Working knowledge of basic special stains and paraffin tissue sectioning
  • Ability to operate tissue processors, stainers, embedding units, cryostats, microscopes, and centrifuges
