Lab Technologist - Part Time - Histology

NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital is the singular source of care and caring for the 750,000 New Yorkers who live and work south of 14th Street. The Histology part-time dayshift position is needed to assist with the volumes of specimens received for processing through Anatomic Pathology. The Histology area receives on average 510 cases a month to process. Each patient's specimen on average takes 1.5 hours to process. The vision of this role is to have 2 full-time and 1 Part-time histology positions within the department, to have the staff available to process all the specimens received each day and have coverage for vacation and breaks, if needed.

The scope of this histology position to fill in workload gaps within the department through overlap in coverage and not affect the timeliness for the release of slides by the lab to the laboratory pathologists, which would affect patient diagnoses.

This is a part time position 3 shifts a week (M, T, F), 7am-3pm, flexible to switch a day to work that week

Preferred Criteria

  • ASCP certification

Required Criteria

  • A Bachelor's degreein Medical Technology (orequivalent experience)
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
  • NEW HIRES PENDING A CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST LICENSE: 1. Must obtain the License within 6 months of hire 2. Must work only in a Trainee capacity.

Salary Range:

$52.61-$65.45/Hourly
