The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Per Diem Histology Assistant to support our pathology and histology teams. In this role, you will perform standard operating procedures, maintain laboratory workflows, and ensure the safe, timely delivery of specimens to the appropriate departments.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and infection control procedures.
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment and software.

Preferred:

  • Certified Histotechnician (HT) preferred.
  • Prior Phlebotomy and/or Specimen Processing experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with histologic techniques and procedures is preferred.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem Schedule
  • Monday – Friday, 7am – 330pm

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and label tissue samples for microscopic analysis.
  • Assist in the embedding of tissue samples in paraffin wax.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as microtomes and automated staining machines.
  • Perform routine and special staining techniques.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous laboratory waste.
  • Maintain accurate records of samples and test results.
  • Monitor and order supplies to ensure laboratory efficiency.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and laboratory regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of reagents and solutions.
  • Clean and sanitize laboratory instruments and work areas.
