Job description

Women’s Health Services is seeking a part-time Health Educator/Counselor to join our team. As a team member you will be an important part of a well-established and growing independent abortion clinic. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Provide patient-centered, non-judgmental educational and counseling services to those seeking abortion 
  • Obtain informed consent for the procedure opted for, ensuring understanding of the procedure, risks, and aftercare 
  • Provide education on contraceptive options and instructions for those prescribed 
  • Assure that patients with special circumstances receive the services and support they need 
  • Provide resources and referrals when appropriate 
  • Accurately document all patient encounters 
  • Facilitate intake and appointments over the phone using medical and financial guidelines  
Requirements 
  • Interest in reproductive health care and abortion access 
  • College degree (in human services-related field) preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to navigate stressful situations in a professional and compassionate manner 
  • Commitment to working pro-actively on an interdisciplinary team 
  • Computer skills required; electronic medical record familiarity preferred 
  • Non-English language skills desirable 
  • Training for exceptional new graduate, intern, or student candidates may be provided
