Job description

Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union (MEFCU) is looking for someone with a knack for fine details, a collaborative approach, and a passion for providing top-notch service to join our team as a Consumer Loan Assistant!
Note: There is one full-time position available. We are open to considering one full-time candidate or two part-time candidates to fill the opening. Part-time schedules may vary based on the candidate availability; however, we are looking for approx. 20 hours per week/40 hours per pay period.
Department: Consumer Lending
Starting salary range: $22-$23 per hour based on experience
Location: Rochester, MN
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Schedule: Part-time
Hours/Pay Period: Part-time (40 hours per pay period) or Full-time (80 hours per pay period). Generally, Monday - Friday hours with occasional Saturday morning hours (approx. every 5-6 weeks)
Remote Worker: No
The Consumer Loan Assistant role serves as the primary contact for vehicle title follow up and loan file lien tracking programs. They provide support and serve as backup to the lending department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as primary contact for matters related to titles and lien tracking:
  • Assists members with questions related to titles and lien.
  • Works extensively with state and title agencies regarding liens on titled collateral.
  • Analyzes individual title problems and suggests solutions.
  • Processes the daily paid loan and new loan report and forwards liens and applicable paperwork to member.
  • Keeps management apprised of percentages of liens perfected.
  • Works extensively with members to secure lien on property taken as collateral on loan files.
  • Works with lien companies to secure lien policies.
  • Analyzes lien problems and suggests solutions.
  • Assists in force-placing liens when a member does not comply with lien requirements.

Works collaboratively with the collection process:
  • Refers members who fail to list credit union as first secured party to the Collection Officer for follow up.
  • Assists Collection Officer with repossession paperwork in regards to the lien.
  • Refers members who fail to obtain property lien to the Collection Officer for follow-up.
  • Works with insurance agencies along with collections on payoff requests.

Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent AND one year of experience working in a financial institution.
All employees must be bondable by MEFCU's insurance policy. Continued employment is subject to maintaining favorable bondable status per insurance standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Employees in this position are expected to possess and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities throughout their employment:
Knowledge of: credit union philosophy and operations procedures, rules and regulations governing Consumer Credit, vehicle title requirements, loan insurance
Skill in: keeping current on economic environment factors that may impact lending, interpersonal communication, organization, time management
Ability to: handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately, prioritize, work independently and as part of a team
Physical and Environmental Criteria
This physical effort required to perform this position is best described as: Sedentary. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. The majority of this position involves computer work, which requires fine dexterity in the continuous movement of the wrist and fingers.
Sensory requirements necessary in the performance of the essential functions of this position include: sight, hearing, touch.
