SUMMARY
Performs assigned material handling and related duties to maximize the online sales of selected donated items in accordance with Agency policies and procedures. Duties will include, but not be limited to identifying collectible items, photographing, and listing product to an online marketplace. This role also includes researching, sorting, shelving, customer service, weighing, packaging & shipping orders, and data entry. Works under the direct supervision of the Ecommerce Manager.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ecommerce department may operate seven days per week which may require weekend and/or evening hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Processing incoming product
  • Receive and sort items from Agency locations; evaluate product, identify collectibles, quickly research, and determine if product is appropriate to sell online
  • Correctly mark items to ensure proper credit to Goodwill store of origin
  • Label and barcode items fit for Ecommerce sales
  • Help the Ecommerce Department maintain acceptable average price & sell-through goals

Listing goods online
  • Clean, weigh, and inspect items for damage
  • Photograph and list product online with attention to detail, clear pictures, and concise descriptions to maximize the value of donations
  • Properly and safely store listed product in Ecommerce warehouse
  • Meet required productivity quotas to help achieve departmental goals

Customer service; internal & external
  • Provide timely, polite customer service to Ecommerce customers
  • Respond to Agency emails and phone calls; provide feedback, answer questions, advise

Shipping
  • Produce pick-lists for orders, scan goods, identify and pull selected product for shipping
  • Identify the best packing materials required as well as the ideal boxes for the product
  • Pack and label all product to ensure safety while in transit using criteria in place determine the level of shipping, insurance, and tracking identifiers for items

Departmental
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that aisles remain clear and all donated items are stored in a safe manner; report any potential hazards or accidents
  • Notify Ecommerce Manager when supplies are needed
  • Safeguard company property, following established policies and procedures for loss control; report any known or suspected occurrences of theft or unauthorized possession of Agency property to appropriate Agency personnel
  • Adhere to all Agency policies and procedures related to Ecommerce and retail sales; ensure that required documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner

Other Duties
  • May assist at designated retail locations, as assigned, to identify potential items for online sales and/or to train retail personnel in identification of such items
  • Perform other related essential duties as required or assigned by supervisor
  • Ability to comprehend and have an understanding of online selling marketplaces

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)**
  • **Students under the age of 18 years still enrolled in High School may be hired to fill part-time positions
  • Knowledge of Ecommerce processes preferred (experience listing items on eBay or similar sites)
  • Familiarity with digital photography preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Communicate and understand both verbal and written instructions
  • Write product descriptions with correct spelling and accurate information

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Organize, sort, categorize, and count
  • Use basic arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

REASONING ABILITY
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

COMPUTER & TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time and use hands to grasp, manipulate, handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee may be required to push crates (on wheels) that may weigh up to 600 pounds. Crates may be moved on flat or sloped surfaces.
A hand truck, cart or crate on wheels, straddle stacker, pallet jack, or other material handling equipment should be used whenever possible to move large/heavy objects or quantities of objects. The assistance of additional staff must be sought when lifting such objects, whenever feasible, and proper lifting techniques must be applied.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
