Job description

Part-Time Director of Operations & Shipping – Live Auction Sales (Whatnot) | Upper East Side, NYC

A growing company specializing in live auction sales on Whatnot is seeking a Part-Time Director of Operations & Shipping to oversee day-to-day logistics, fulfillment, and operational efficiency.

This is a hands-on, on-site role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable working side-by-side with a live salesperson during auctions to support real-time operations and shipping.

Location:
On-site a few days per week in our office on the Upper East Side (East 70s), Manhattan

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all shipping and fulfillment operations during and after live auctions
  • Work closely next to the live salesperson during auctions to support real-time order flow and logistics
  • Manage inventory flow, packing processes, and carrier coordination
  • Ensure timely, accurate order processing and delivery
  • Develop and improve operational workflows and systems
  • Troubleshoot logistics issues and implement scalable solutions
  • Create and update storefront thumbnails and visual assets for the Whatnot app to support branding and drive engagement

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in operations, shipping, or fulfillment management
  • Experience with e-commerce, live selling, or high-volume order environments strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a live, fast-paced sales environment alongside a salesperson
  • Ability to create compelling thumbnails/visuals for storefronts (experience with Whatnot or similar platforms is a plus)
  • Familiarity with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, or similar) preferred
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
