Reports to: Coordinator of Children & Family Ministries directly

Status: Part Time, 3-5 hours/week on Sunday, additional events occasionally

FLSA: Exempt

Salary: $15/hr

Job Summary

The purpose of the Child Care Provider is to create a loving and welcoming environment to all attendees, members, regular attenders and visitors of First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor while providing the best possible care in the Church Nursery on Sunday mornings. The position requires a passion for children’s growth and development in life and in faith.

Responsibilities:

• Work in the church nursery during Sunday worship, Coffee Hour and Faith Formation classes, 9:00 AM – 12:15 PM. Arrival 30 minutes prior to worship service, leaving upon completion of cleaning and reset of the toys and space.

• Maintain regular weekly schedules and provide adequate notice when planning an absence or if ill. Work 2 to 3 additional events in the semester that are not during a regular Sunday morning schedule

• Maintain compliance with the Child & Youth Safety Policies of the church and regular cleaning standards for the classrooms. This includes following all cleaning procedures during and after the time with children, notifying supervisor when materials are running low or broken.

• Participate in a semester check-in with the Coordinator of Children & Family Ministries

Minimum Qualifications:

• Prior experience with young children on a semi-regular basis, or providing child care in a professional capacity.

• High school graduation

• Sign and comply with Child and Youth Safety Policy of First Presbyterian, which includes passing a criminal background screening.

• Work Sundays and Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter as requested

• Receive and maintain necessary CPR and First Aid Certifications (can be provided)

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift or move equipment/materials or children weighing up to 30 pounds, with or without accommodation.

• Ability to move quickly in order to prevent children from harming themselves or others.

• Ability to work for extended periods standing, sitting, or on the floor with children- at eye level with them.
