Manager LCMS School Ministry
Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod - Office of National Mission
Reporting Relationships
  • Reports to the Director of School Ministry.
Working Relationships
  • Collaborate on development and execution of projects and program operations with LCMS School Ministry Staff, program directors in the Office of National Mission and designated representatives from offices within corporate Synod, especially mission and ministry units under the supervision of the Chief Mission Officer.
Essential Job Functions
  • Manage the Genesis/LSCS Consulting Program, including the coordination of contracts, interaction with consultants and conference vendors, maintenance of databases and analyzing progress based on recommendations from consultants
  • Manage the National Lutheran School Accreditation Program, as assigned by the Director of school ministry, including the development and implementation of surveys, databases and resulting action items
  • Interact with the various accreditation agencies with which NLSA has reciprocity
  • Manage training for NLSA Commissioners and the various team members associated with the accreditation process, including the bi-annual National Accreditation Commission meetings
  • Manage NLSA Professional Development Program and issue Continuing Education Units to participants
  • Manage the SLED Program, developing application materials, evaluating progress, maintaining the database and appropriate surveys, as well as applicable content, both in-person and online
  • Support and Resource Classical Lutheran Education and Homeschooling, including the advocacy for diverse expressions of Lutheran education and providing consultation to congregations, districts and associations interested in launching or expanding these or other forms of Lutheran education, faithful to Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions
  • Develop and distribute resources, organize conferences and workshops, and foster collaborative networks that equip classical Lutheran educators and homeschooling families
  • Serve as a liaison to the Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education (CCLE) and other partners to strengthen alignment between LCMS School Ministry and classical/homeschool networks while encouraging and facilitating connections between all those engaged in the diverse forms of Lutheran Education
  • Other ONM-related duties and projects, as assigned by the ONM managing director or executive director.
Education and Experience
  • A member of an LCMS congregation, faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions and supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, Bylaws and policies
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s degree in education, education leadership, or equivalent field
  • 5 years of experience as a Lutheran school administrator, preferred
  • Experience in the areas of communication, including writing, public speaking, and program development
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Biblical Confessional Lutheran theology and educational issues

  • Keen interest in and the ability to keep current with issues pertaining to Lutheran Christian education
  • Competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to identify and balance workflow and procedures
  • Willingness to travel
